more deets about Sadder-Wiser:

The mission of Sadder-Wiser is to improve our quality of life, with food.

The brand Sadder-Wiser represents a 21st century, Betty Crocker type of resource. Rather than sell factory made, food products to homemakers, we teach foundational, food-related skills to anyone.

Our values are rooted in sustainability. We create contemporary food education because we want to see a world where every grown person has the skills to cook for themselves without depending 100% on convenience foods.

When we source materials for printing zines, we look for sustainably made papers from the US and have our printing done at a print shop local to us in the PNW. We also source some international materials, the binding thread comes from Ireland.

In addition to the printed zines, Sadder-Wiser is working to build out our website, beginning with a reference library. The RefLib will be our place for additional content related to the household guides; readers will be able to find more specific information that does not fit within the zines. For example in Home-Baking, there is a plug for baking with fresh flour > on the website in the Reference Library, there is a Fresh Flour Directory.

Coming up next: Compassionate Cookery, a zine about making & giving food.
